Market Analyst - Advanced Tools for Advanced Traders Print E-mail
Market Analyst Professional

Hi and thanks for taking the time to investigate how Market Analyst can give you an edge in trading.

My name is Mathew Verdouw and I am not only the founder of Market Analyst but also a trader like you who loves trading and finding those opportunities in the market through technical analysis.   At Market Analyst Software, our whole team prides itself on providing top quality software and support with some of the most advanced technical trading techniques available.  We believe in Market Analyst, and we know that any trader who applies the correct discipline can be very successful in trading.

I’ve been using an old version of MetaStock for many years and was looking to upgrade.   A few people recommended Market Analyst so I thought that I would try it out.  I was so happy with the trial version of Market Analyst that I decided to take up  the monthly subscription. What impressed me was how easy it was to initially download the program, then the historical data, how easy it is to use, and finally how easy it was to set up the monthly subscription.

What Can Market Analyst Do For Me?

OK, you've come to this page because you want to know what Market Analyst can do for you. Please let me take a few moments to explain where Market Analyst has come from as it will give you a better understanding of our ethos and why we continue to press into new areas like three dimensional charting.

Market Analyst is not for everyone, in fact if you have never done a course on technical analysis trading techniques, then do not get Market Analyst.  Nearly all brokers these days have simple charts that you can view as part of your brokerage account, you do not need a package like Market Analyst until you are ready to go to the next step and become an advanced trader. If you would like to learn more about Technical Analysis, we have a number of educators that we can recommend on our web site at http://www.market-analyst.com/market-educators

History

I started Market Analyst in 1996 after a friend introduced me to futures and asked me to help in back testing a strategy that he was going to use in the market.  As a Software Engineer I was intrigued and between contracts at the time.  Well, once I started to get to understand the markets and see how technical indicators like those from WD Gann were so accurately helping in making trading decisions, I was hooked.  By early 1997 Market Analyst 1 was released, which was one of the worlds first programs to include Gann Swing Charts.

Once we released version 1, more and more market educators came to us and made suggestion on how we could improve Market Analyst. This is one of the key differences with Market Analyst, still today we value very highly the suggestions from world renowned market educators and the reality is that Market Analyst has become the program it is because of all of their input. My specialty has always been a Software Engineer making sure that we provide a platform that would allow many and varied techniques to be easily used by our clients.

I am the first to say that I have not always been the Technical Analysis expert, but I, and the Market Analyst team, have been experts at taking the knowledge of our market educators and converting that into useable techniques.  Since 1997 we have been continually innovating and finding better ways to empower Technical Analyst traders. Our company has grown in those years also, we now have clients in almost every part of the world, taking advantage of our unique way of doing things and also providing us with valuable feedback on how we can improve further.  Market Analyst Software is also focussed on social welfare, donating proceeds to third world regions and also help for high school kids.

What is Technical Analysis?

If you are not familiar with Technical Analysis, I will explain it here. All Technical tools (the lines we put on the charts) are basically a calculation based on the history of the security that we are looking at. If I have, as an example, two of these mathematical lines on my chart, and as I look through the past couple of years, I notice that the crossing of these two lines precedes a fall in the market 80% of the time, then I have a statistical precedent on which to base my trading decision should those lines cross again. A lot of people will try and tell you that Technical Analysis does not work, I'm sorry but after studying this area for more than a decade, I have seen the market move in predictable cycles. Technical Analysis does work and if you are not using even the most simple techniques as a stop loss, then you are exposing yourself to far too much risk.

Gann Techniques

As I developed Market Analyst, the first people I worked with were followers of Gann (it sounds like a sect but it isn't).  Gann was one of the modern worlds most amazing mathematicians who focussed on the markets and trading.  If you are interested in Gann, you can find out more on this page http://www.market-analyst.com/gann-edition

The more I studied Gann and the way that these techniques could pick turning points in the market, the more I knew that every trader should understand these principles.  Right from Market Analyst 1, Market Analyst has always had a number of unique Gann based studies included.  Now we even have entire editions devoted to many of his techniques.

Advanced Traders Only

I said at the top of this page that if you are just starting out, do not use Market Analyst. I have to be honest, and the marketing department hate it when I say this, but I do not want people subscribing to Market Analyst unless they understand what they are doing and can leverage all of Market Analyst's power to their advantage.  As a retail trader, Market Analyst will cost you more than your cable TV or your telephone service, so unless you are serious and you see that fee as insignificant compared to the money that Market Analyst will help you to make and protect, we do not want you to use Market Analyst.  Please understand where we are coming from, Trading is hard work, it takes discipline, anyone who tells you otherwise does not care about you, just what they can make from you.  i would rather have a client base full of people who know what they are doing, using Market Analyst to assist them in their own trading decisions and living the life that they dreamed about.

If you are just starting out, do not be discouraged, you are on the cusp of starting a new way of life that can provide you with immense freedom, you just need to make sure you get the right education to set you on the right track.  We have listed some of the best market educators we know on the following page http://www.market-analyst.com/market-educators check them out and see if any suit what you are looking for.

So what is Market Analyst?

Whew, that's a long preamble to get through. Market Analyst is an advanced Technical Analysis software program that allows you to apply technical indicators to historical market data and then study those indicators to find opportunities in the market and to assist in deciding when to exit a position. We have focussed on providing the most advanced interface which is incredibly powerful in spite of the simple and uncluttered appearance.  Some of the more notable features are (and this list is not exhaustive) :
